Mapping 'Art in my life'

As a millennial, digital art and culture play a significant part in my life since I was young. As such, my group mates and I decided to map where art is in our lives by dissecting its role into past, present and future. We define digital art and culture to be how digital elements and media can be incorporated into showcases/artworks to encourage interactivity and enhance understanding of artists’ intention. Based on our own shared and common experiences as a 90s kid, we propose an interactive showcase of digital art that will take people on a journey through time and temporal shift in space to experience different aspects of digital technology in Singapore.

Starting with the 'Past' segment, one can interact with digital devices that simulate old handheld games which we used to own as a child. Other technologies from the past include the television, cassette and the Sentosa musical fountain light show. Moving onto the current age, social media would dominate this space and lastly, the 'Future' segment will include augmented reality, artificial intelligence as well as holograms. VR glasses will be provided to interact with these hologram displays to facilitate constructivist art creation. Through this exhibition, we hope to create a sense of nostalgia and to encourage innovation among the future generation.
